Success for Talented Adam Smith Staff

Talented Hospitality and Tourism lecturers at Adam Smith College are always in high demand due to their phenomenal skills, creativity and sheer passion for their industry. Their enthusiasm and expertise mean they are invited to do a whole range of exciting things; from TV appearances to demonstrations at prestigious national shows, and helping to make the most of community events.

Barry Scott and Fiona Milne are part of the team of award-winning chef lecturers and will soon be sharing their experiences with their students and fellow peers.

Barry, from Kennoway, has worked at the College for two years and was delighted to get the opportunity to travel to Turkey to take part in a food culture initiative as part of special EU project ‘Arch Network’, funded by a Leonardo da Vinci Project.

Said Barry, “The trip was amazing and very inspiring. We travelled to different restaurants, bakeries and community projects throughout the country and, alongside chef lecturers from other colleges, we learned a great deal about ingredients and traditional Turkish cooking. I can’t wait to pass on the many new techniques and recipes to our new students after the holidays!”

Fiona, from Windygates, will soon be joining Andrew Fairlie at his ‘Restaurant Andrew Fairlie’, which is located in Gleneagles; one of Scotland’s top hotels. Fiona was successful in achieving a Young Managers’ Scholarship HIT Award, and will join the Fairlie team to work at the ‘front of house’; gaining all the experience she can from the restaurant that possess two Michelin stars.

Fiona said, “I’m delighted to have been given the chance to work with Andrew Fairlie. It’s an immense opportunity to work with such a respected chef who has a tremendous passion for food and the overall dining experience.”
