Adam Smith College will be hosting a lecture on Naval Architecture next Friday morning at the St Brycedale Campus, Kirkcaldy. Les Dickson, Commercial Director, Northern Europe, Serimax, will deliver the lecture which will be very interesting and give a fantastic insight into his career path which has spanned from being an apprentice draughtsman to working on the design and building of ships from Liverpool to Canada!

Two Science students from Adam Smith College are the latest in a long line of students to benefit from a unique Scholarship in memory of Angela Stewart-Grant. Angela, who was a science student herself sadly died of bowel cancer in 1999, aged 23.

Keith Brown, Minister for Skills and Lifelong Learning, visited Adam Smith College’s Stenton Campus in Glenrothes on Wednesday (20th January). The Minister praised the work being carried out to build a new Centre for Engineering Construction and Science. During his visit Mr Brown met with College staff, guests associated with the project and representatives from the construction company ROK, the contractors building the development.

The state-of-the-art centre is at the heart of the low cost airlines recruitment and training of programme and the 19 students, accompanied by College lecturers, were given first hand experience of what training for cabin crew at Easyjet is all about!

Students on the Prince’s Trust programme at Adam Smith College came together recently to celebrate the completion of their latest course. The 12 week course run at the College’s Leven Campus saw students gaining certificates in Food Hygiene, First Aid and the Millennium Volunteers Award as well as Communications and Social Awareness Development group award.

Colleges in Scotland have reached a major milestone in their groundbreaking work with their counterparts in Malawi. This week in the country’s capital city Lilongwe, 27 Malawian senior college staff graduated from two leadership and management programmes designed by Scotland’s Colleges and delivered in Malawi over the past 18 months. The principals of three of Scotland’s Colleges joined principals and senior staff from all of Malawi’s vocational colleges this week for the graduation ceremony.

Anstruther’s picturesque harbour is the place to be this weekend for a fun filled few days of activities for all ages at the Anstruther Muster 2009. There will be loads to see and do on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August including yacht races, bouncy castle, charity stalls, kiddies disco, and coastal walk.
