The NQ Human Resource Skills students were given the task of planning and carrying out a fundraising event as part of their course and soon got to work by surveying other College students to see what it was they would like and who the money raised should go to. They received great feedback from their fellow students and decided to go ahead with a raffle for Cancer Research.
One of the students in the group, Danielle Parish (18) from Kirkcaldy, said, “This module has been great for us as a team and it’s allowed us to bond as a group as well as achieving lots of new skills. With help from our tutor Tracey, we have learnt various organisational, selling and management skills as well as how to deal with conflict, and have become close friends in the process.”
NQ HR Skills Lecturer, Tracey Thaw, said, “The students in the HR Skills class have done a fantastic job in raising so much money for such a good cause. They worked really hard to achieve this right from the beginning and it’s great to see them learning so many new skills throughout that they can take with them into future studies and employment.”
By liaising with local businesses and contacts the HR Skills class were lucky enough to receive kind donations for their raffle from Asda, Boots, Claire’s Salon Methil, Culture Health & Fitness, Ian Banks, Laurelbank Hotel, Rejects, Scottish Power, Therapeutics in Leven and White Riot.
