The Creative Showcase is one of the most inspirational events of the College calendar when students showcase the very best of their year's work.

Students graduating from all specialisms of art and design including animation, glass fusion, furniture production, graphics, fashion, jewellery, sculpture, textiles, 3D interiors and hair & beauty, took great pride in showing their work to invited guests from throughout the country as well as family, friends and members of the public.

HND 3D Interior Design student Debbie Reid (29), from Glenrothes, came to Adam Smith three years ago after working full-time in a factory and has never looked back. Said Debbie, “Deciding to go to College after working full-time was a big decision but I’m so glad I’ve done it. Interiors is what I’ve always wanted to do and I enjoy it so much – I even started my own business last year and have had quite a few jobs already.

“I’ve now been accepted to do an honours degree in Architectural Interiors at Glasgow Caledonian University – making the final 17 out of 78 applicants – and hope to continue my business whilst working through my degree. Eventually I hope to spend some time in Dubai working - and continue living the dream!”

Debbie combined her course with starting up her own interiors business, and one of her most recent College projects – a transformation of an old fish shop in Kirkcaldy to a beauty salon – is going ahead! Debbie commented, “Two of my friends who are Beauty Therapists – also just completing their studies at Adam Smith – are opening up their own business. I gave them lots of ideas, working to their budget, timescales and tastes and I am so pleased they loved it so much they are taking my ideas forward into the redesign of their new salon.”

Aileen Lamden, Executive Director of the College's Centre for Creative Industries, said, "The exhibition is one of the highlights of the College year and this year was certainly no exception. The quality and originality of the designs pays testament to the hard work and dedication that all the creative students have shown throughout their courses."
