10th Anniversary Celebrations for Cosmos Centre

02 September 2009

Adam Smith College and the Cosmos Learning Centre celebrated 10 years of successful partnership this week at a special anniversary event.

Students, staff and guests gathered together in the Centre in Abbey Road, St Andrews to mark the unique occasion.

The event gave those linked with the Cosmos Centre, including previous students and staff, an opportunity to look back and celebrate the decade gone- by while looking forward to continued success.

Hundreds of students from the local area have benefitted from the wide range of courses available at the Cosmos Centre over the last ten years, enabling them to gain qualifications and make new friends. For many it has also been a useful stepping stone on to further study.

Speaking at the Event, Dr Craig Thomson, Principal of Adam Smith College said, “Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Cosmos Learning Centre is a fantastic milestone and it is great to see so many individuals come together to mark the occasion. At Adam Smith College we pride ourselves in giving learners an individual experience to help build their confidence and give them the right skills and qualifications to progress their studies and gain employment. The Cosmos Learning Centre is playing a vital role in the local community of St Andrews in enabling people living throughout Fife to gain easy access to a world of learning opportunities.”

Gill Joy, Chair of the Centre added, “None of us can believe that 10 years have passed so quickly. During this time we have seen so many students benefit from the wide range of courses and support available here at the Centre and we look forward to continuing this success for many years to come. I was delighted to welcome the Provost Frances Melville, Cllr Robin Waterston and also Cllr Bill Sangster to our anniversary event. Cllr Sangster was involved in the setting up of the Centre and was also the Chairman when it first opened.”

Courses on offer at the Cosmos Learning Centre include, Computing, ECDL, Digital Photography, Card Making, Scrapbooking, Crafty Tales, Art and Interior Decoration.
