HNC Art and Design

The HNC/HND Art and Design programme allows you to study a variety of creative arts, including portrait and figure studies, painting techniques, jewellery design, glass, textiles and mixed media. During the programme, you will develop a substantial portfolio and take part in an exhibition of your own art work which will help you prepare for employment or your next step into higher education.

Practical Projects

Throughout the course, participants will work on a range of exciting and varied practical projects. Starting with a design brief, individuals will create design ideas by applying theoretical, investigative, problem solving and technical skills. These practical projects will give students the opportunity to explore a variety of media in a creative way.

Entry Requirements

  • 3 Highers including English and Art and Design/Craft and Design and 3 Standard Grades at Grade 3 or above
  • Relevant NQ course

AND

  • Suitable portfolio of Art and Design.

Further Study

  • Gain entry to the second year of a relevant degree course.

Career Opportunities

On successful completion of the course, students will be ready to embark on a career as a practicing artist.
