HNC Technical Theatre (incorporating Production)

Theatre Production in the UK is currently undergoing an unprecedented period of growth with over 30,000 stage managers and theatre technicians needed for the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Theatre, events and music industries and the new National Theatre of Scotland provides an ever-increasing choice and variety of career opportunities.

On this HNC students will be given an excellent training to prepare them for the profession or further studies at diploma or degree level.

Practical Projects

Throughout the course you will be taught the theory and techniques within each production department, which will underpin all production work. You will undertake the roles of Stage Manager or Deputy Stage Manager, Lighting and Sound Technicians and/or Set and Costume Designers on the in-house and touring productions and projects within the department.

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • 2 Highers including English or Drama and 3 Standard Grades preferably English and Maths
  • NC Technical Theatre
  • Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

Career Opportunities
