NC Art and Design Portfolio

Level 5

This new broad-based Art Portfolio course gives you an excellent grounding in the area of Visual Arts. If you have studied at Intermediate 2 Level and wish to progress to further study or if you have Higher results and wish time over 2 years to prepare a substantial portfolio for entry to Art College or HND, this is the course for you. It is expected that on completion of this programme students will progress to the Art and Design Portfolio - Level 6 course.

Level 6

The Art Portfolio course enables you to broaden and strengthen your creative ability, providing an ideal platform for career progression in visual arts. The combination of drawing, painting, 2D and 3D design skills and illustration, will give you the opportunity to build a substantial portfolio for entry to art college.

Entry Requirements

Level 5

One of the following:

  • 3 Standard Grades including Art and Design at Grade 4 or above
  • Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

AND

  • Suitable portfolio of Art and Design

Level 6

One of the following:

  • 3 Highers inclduing English and Art and Design/Craft and Design and 3 Standard Gardes at Grade 3 or above
  • Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

AND

  • Suitable portfolio of Art and Design

Career Opportunities

Level 5

On Successful completion of this course, students will be ready to apply to NQ Art and Design Portfolio - Level 6 course.

Level 6

On successful completion of this course, students will be ready to apply to Art Colleges or to a variety of HN/degree level courses at college or university. Please note, for entry to art schools, students also require to check with the appropriate institution for entry requirements.
