PDA Computer Aided Draughting and Design

Whether you are a novice or experienced CAD user, this course offers you the opportunity to earn a nationally recognised CADD qualification and to progress towards an advanced level of practical CADD skills. The content is aimed at providing you with the opportunity to formalise a professional development qualification and/or to develop practical CADD skills relevant to this industry standard application. This course gives you the opportunity to fully understand 2D CAD and develop skills in 3D modelling. You can also select further subjects from 3 options. These subjects range from feature based modelling, architectural CAD and advanced 2D CAD. The course focuses on the basic building blocks of CADD applications, moving towards more sophisticated CADD skills as you progress. The PDA is a good entry point if you would like to pursue a career as a CADD Technician in a variety of industries.

What You Study

6 Credits are required to achieve the PDA in CAD

Mandatory:4.0 credits

  • CAD:2D I (using AutoCAD)
  • CAD:3D Modelling (using AutoCAD)
  • CAD:Principles (using Inventor)

Options 2.0 Credits

  • CAD: Feature-Based Modelling 1 (using Inventor)
  • CAD:2D II (advanced) (using AutoCAD)
  • CAD:Architectural 1 (using Revit)

Software Used

  • AutoCAD 2011
  • Inventor 2011
  • Revit 2011

Duration and Attendance

  • Part-time
  • Flexible Study Options: Evening and Afternoon

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • A National Certificate in an appropriate discipline
  • Applicants who do not meet this criteria, but have relevant industrial experience or alternative qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
